Whether you travel often or take infrequent flights, your skin should be given extra care before, during and after the trip no matter the distance traveled. With Spring Break approaching, there are many helpful suggestions that the estheticians at Kiki Skin & Body Spa will provide you with to keep your skin from becoming dehydrated while flying to your destination.
One suggestion? A facial treatment will prep your skin, and along with the correct products to maintain before and during your trip, your skin will be good-to-go. Consider getting waxed beforehand, not only to smooth out and de-fuzz your skin, but to avoid visiting a spa you are not familiar with.
Right before the day of departure, boost your Vitamin C intake and continue to do so throughout your travel day. And be sure to getextra sleep before you head to the airport to help you more easily adjust as you travel through time zones. Be aware that the low air pressure on aircrafts makes your body tissue swell by 20%, so wearing comfy clothing will alleviate the constricted feeling.
Remember to use a body moisturizer all over after showering to keep your skin hydrated. When applying treatment before heading to the airport, use a Serum with hyaluronic acid. It is a great humectant that bonds water 1,000 times its weight. Moisturizer and eye cream are necessary, and should be reapplied as needed. Of course SPF is your final step.
A blemish control stick for sudden breakouts and Vitamin E for lips are both great to pack in your carry-on bag. Your moisturizer should be adjusted to climate changes when you reach your destination. Kiki Skin & Body Spa carries travel-size products, and if you choose to wash your face on board, the Face Mitt can be used with water.
Work to reduce your sodium intake before and during the flight to avoid bloating. Another helpful tip is to abstain from alcohol, which also bloats the face and body. Instead, pack green tea bags and ask the flight attendant for hot water several times throughout the flight. Green tea contains antioxidants, and is a natural diuretic to aid in avoiding bloating.
Snacks that are offered on board usually contain high levels of sugar and sodium. Pack yourself healthy snacks, and you will feel better for doing so. For contact wearers, bring along a pair of eyeglasses. Low moisture in the cabin causes eyes to become dry and irritated. Saline drops also help to comfort the eyes.
Upon your return, you will want to schedule your next appointment at Kiki’s to resume your regular treatments.
SAFE TRAVELS! And see you soon!
P.S. There is a great new treatment now offered at Kiki Skin & Body Spa! Stay tuned.
